School Board races were never non-partisan. Local races often feature platitudes like “There’s no Republican or Democrat way to pick up the trash”, which is simply invalid. A Republican administration would likely contract out trash collection, whereas a Democrat administration is more likely to employ unionized workers. There are underlying value systems, free market solutions or central controls; make your own decision or do what the experts tell you. As you know, the Coalition kicked off the new year with our Open House, “Local Government Matters.“ The excitement in the room was palpable with an excellent turn out. Guests were treated to a night of impassioned speeches by Mayor Mike Sharkey and State House Representatives Mike Jones, Wendy Fink, and Kate Klunk. Greetings and Merry Christmas to everyone on behalf of the SYCSD Parent and Taxpayer Coalition! April 2022’s School Board meeting will be held Thursday, April 14th at 7PM at the School’s administration building. The 2022-2023 District budget is to be presented at this meeting, it does not appear there is a vote intended on accepting that budget. March meeting recap!
